Ship's pass issued by 'Old Hickory'

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 10 x 12 (likely trimmed), August 7, 1835. Ships pass reads, in part: “By the President of the United States of America Suffer the Ship Houqua of New Bedford Edward P. Mosher master or commander… mounted with No guns navigated with thirty men To Pass with her Company Passengers Goods and Merchandise without any hinderance [sic] seizure or molestation the said Schooner appearing by good testimony to belong to one of more of the Citizens of the United States to him or them only.” Signed at the conclusion by Jackson, and countersigned by Secretary of State John Forsyth. Matted and framed with an engraved portrait, to an overall size of 23 x 17.25 . Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, handwritten portions of document light, but mostly legible, likely trimmed top edge, and scattered toning and soiling, otherwise very good condition. The white wafer seal is toned, but intact, and Jackson’s signature measures over five inches long. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
