Description

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, March 3, 1931. Hoover writes the Rev. Paul R. Hickok at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in Newark, New Jersey. In full: “I do wish to thank you for your letter of fine friendliness and support in the matter of the bonus veto.” The bonus veto led to the Bonus Riot of 1932, when disgruntled and impoverished veterans marched on Washington to demand promised assistance and were met by the National Guard. In fine condition, with horizontal fold touching the top of his name. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
