Description

“It isn't often we old fellows are given a thought by a sweet young girl”

Clothier, manufacturer, and philanthropist (1862–1932) best known as a part-owner of Sears, Roebuck and Company. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 7, July 17, 1903. “No doubt Frankie told you how pleased I was with the attention from you; if not, I want you to know that nothing has so pleased me for many a day—It isn’t often we old fellows are given a thought by a sweet young girl—I’m sure I shall enjoy reading the story—My health is much improved & only the doctors conservatism prevents me from resuming my regular daily routine.” He has added the humorous postscript: “Regards to Frankie the worst tennis player in Chicago.” Few creases, a partial separation along a top mailing fold, and light soiling, otherwise fine condition.
