Finishing his ‘Lineman’ sculpture, Zorach admits: “In the casting I lost some of the details in the shoes,” and works to fix it

Sculptor, painter, printmaker, and writer (1887-1966). ALS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 8, 1930. Letter to Mr. Shipley Concerning a football sculpture, apparently his 1931 ‘The Lineman.’ In part: “I write to thank you for sending Louis Jacob with the football costume to pose for me he did very well & it’s finished now - In the casting I lost some of the details in the shoes…I’m wondering if you would be so kind as to get me the loan of a pair of football shoes for a day or so…Drop in sometime & see the model if you like.” In fine condition, with scattered mild toning.
