TLS signed “Jerry Ford,” two pages, 8 x 10.5, Congress of the United States letterhead, November 15, 1971. Letter to a Michigan constituent. In part: “Many thanks for your recent, thoughtful letter concerning the protection of wild horses. You will be interested to know that legislation, H.R. 9890, has been approved by the House of Representatives dealing with wild horses and burros on public lands. If enacted into law this legislation would give the Secretary of the Interior jurisdiction over all free-roaming horses and burros not privately owned. The bill provides that the Secretary will maintain ranges for the animals’ protection and that he may issue regulations protecting these animals.” In fine condition, with staple holes to top left corner of both pages, and four small pinholes to blank portion of second page.
