Henry Armstrong

Boxer (1912–1988) who simultaneously held the featherweight, welterweight, and lightweight championships in 1938. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Herbert Hoover Boys’ Club of St. Louis letterhead, April 28, 1972. Armstrong sends a gracious letter to a young fan. In full (with spelling and grammar retained): “My wife informmed me that you was willing to send a small amount for photo expense and mailing. I must admit that this is the first time in all of the photo’s I’ve sent out that I have had such an offer. Well Jim you can send what ever you think is helpful and We’ll be grateful. Expecting to be in Los Angeles the last two weeks in August of this year to be celebrated by the Boxing fans and Boxing Cimmission of Calif. Hope to perhaps see you in my travel.” In fine condition, with scattered creasing and wrinkles. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
