Description

John and Jackie Kennedy send 1963 Christmas cheer—a month after JFK’s assassination

Color 6 x 4.5 gift print entitled “Mill’s Colossal Equestrian Statue of General Andrew Jackson.” Signed and inscribed in blue ink on the mat, “For Willie Martinell, with our appreciation and all good wishes. Jacqueline Kennedy Christmas 1963” and signed in blue ink “John Kennedy.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 10.75. In fine condition. The president signed this object well in advance of the holidays and his tragic trip to Dallas, with Mrs. Kennedy taking time to add a message. The original recipient was William Martinell, a member of the White House medical staff. An eerily poignant Christmas present from JFK more than a month after his assassination. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
