Promising American actress (1913–1970) whose career was cut short by alcoholism. She retired from films in 1942 and spent a large part of the remainder of her life in mental institutions, dying of cancer at 57. Vintage ink in-person signature and inscription, “To Joe, Sincerely, Frances Farmer,” on a 5 x 3 card.
