Description

Keller signs a portrait for a future Smithsonian curator

Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of Keller examining a bas-relief sculpture, signed and inscribed in pencil “With affectionate greetings to Richard P. Wunder whose bright letter has made us friends, Helen Keller, January 1939.” In fine condition, with a couple small corner tip creases, and a bit of light contrast to a few letters of signature and inscription. The photo’s recipient, Richard Wunder (1923-2002), was only a teenager at the time of receiving this photo, but would go on to become a noted curator and art historian at several prestigious museums including the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
