Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “James Madison” as president and “Jas. Monroe” as secretary of state, one page, 16 x 9.5, February 20, 1811. Land grant issued to Abraham Demott for a parcel of land under an “Act of Congress entitled ‘An Act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the territory north-west of the Ohio and above the mouth of the Kentucky River.’” Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of Madison’s signature, Madison’s signature light, but legible, small hole at central junction of folds, and scattered toning and soiling, otherwise very good condition.
