Fabric American flag, 16 x 11 and affixed to a 31”-long wooden stick, signed in black felt tip by George W. Bush. Likely signed at the height of US patriotism following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In very fine condition. An interesting connection between the 43rd president and one of the darkest chapters in American history. Ironically, in signing this example, the president violated Section 8g of the United States Code pertaining to the flag, which reads: ‘The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.’ Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
