Description

President Hoover pays tribute to Alice Hamilton for her selfless dedication to work-related diseases

TLS as president, one page, 6 x 6.75, personal letterhead, September 8, 1931. Hoover writes Dr. C. E. A. Winslow, professor of public health at Yale School of Medicine. In part: “I have learned with interest that the Industrial Hygiene Section of the American Public Health Association, at its annual meeting in Montreal, will pay special tribute to Dr. Alice Hamilton. It is a tribute to which I should like to join. Her services to the cause of social medicine have been varied and important. Her work in the field of industrial hygiene, especially, has not only contributed to protecting the health of thousands of industrial workers, but has added to the world’s knowledge in this field and to sound practice in safeguarding health in industry.” Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 19.25 x 14.25. In fine condition. Deserving praise for Hamilton, the first woman appointed to the faculty of Harvard University and a leading expert in occupational health. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
