The doomed president relieves a New York merchandise appraiser of his duties

Partly-printed DS as president, signed “William McKinley,” one page, 8 x 10.5, October 12, 1897. The president states to Emil Rose of New York City, “You are hereby removed from the Office of Assistant Appraiser of Merchandise in the District of New York in the State of New York to take effect upon the appointment and qualification of your successor.” Double-matted with a portrait to an overall size of 22.5 x 18.25. In fine condition, with even shade of toning and a horizontal fold passing through his name. An uncommon Executive Mansion order. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
