Description

Writing from jail while awaiting trial for murdering Oswald, Ruby sends thanks during the holidays

ALS, in pencil, one page, 6 x 4, January 7, 1964. Letter of thanks to Grace Jeffery in Honolulu. In part: “Thank you so much for your beautiful Christmas card, and may God Bless you and yours for thinking of me at this time.” In fine condition, with a central vertical fold, and a bit of mild toning. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in pencil by Ruby. Ruby adds his return address of “505 Main St, Dallas, Texas,” but ironically omits his name, and the building, the Dallas City Jail. A congenial letter from Ruby under obviously trying circumstances, sent just six weeks after shooting Lee Harvey Oswald. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
