“I have no objection whatever to you making use of any translations from the German ‘Poets and Poetry of Europe’”

ALS signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, January 6, 1874. Letter to an unidentified gentleman who asked permission to use a translation. In part: “In reply to your letter, I am happy to say, that I have no objection whatever to you making use of any translations from the German ‘Poets and Poetry of Europe,’ for the purpose you mention.” In very good condition, with several partial separations to horizontal folds on both pages, and some scattered light toning and soiling. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
