His two fights with Joe Louis in the late 1930s transcended boxing, and became worldwide social events because of their national associations. Vintage 4 x 6 lightweight postcard photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen "To Jimmy Wiggins, with best wishes from Max Schmeling, Hamburg, March 1947." In fine condition, with crease to top left corner, a bit of light contrast to first line of inscription, and signature just a shade light. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
