Artist (1896-1965) who was partly responsible for the revival of wood engraving in the United States. Two neatly written one-page ALSs, both signed in full, one from 1961 and one from 1962. One letter reads in part: 'In connection with the miniature book project…I should first tell you that about 8 years ago I suffered a thrombosis in my right eye. This terminated my career as a wood-engraver. I have been unable to create any new engravings since that time.' In overall fine condition.
