Unique collection of England’s four royal Georges

Four DSs, one from each of the British monarchs named George. Includes: George I: one page both sides, 12 x 16, January 1716. Untranslated text, in German, of what appears to be a proclamation; George II: one page, 12.25 x 16, August 23, 1716. As Prince of Wales, George directs the privy seal to be affixed to certain documents belonging to Charles, Earl of Sunderland; George III: two pages, 8 x 13, October 16, 1793. George directs payment to Captain Richard Porter for his service at “Kingston or Carleton Island in North America”; George IV: two pages, 9.25 x 14, March 25, 1817. As regent, George lays out rules for court martials. In overall good to very good condition, with intersecting folds, creasing, mild to moderate toning and soiling, missing sections of paper, and the bottom quarter of the George III document separate but included. Accompanied a first edition 1861 printing of The Four Georges by William Makepeace, bound without the publisher’s ads at the rear. Very good condition with cracked hinges and accompanied by a custom cloth-covered slipcase. RRAuction COA.
