Description

The first American in space reports a fuel problem with his Navy fighter

DS, signed “Cdr. A. B. Shepard,” one page both sides, 8 x 11, no date. Final page of an aircraft discrepancy and work record from Langley Air Force Base, for an F-106A, with two of the left side panels filled out in pencil and both signed by Shepard, who writes in one discrepancy, “F-tank did not transfer until both sides reached 1200# remaining.” Uniform shade of toning (heavier at edges), missing piece of paper at the top edge, and the remaining boxes filled out by enlisted personnel, otherwise in fine condition. An unusual format with direct flight-related content from one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts! Pre-certified Scott Cornish and RRAuction COA.
