Letter declining a speaking engagement. In full: “I am very sorry that my engagements to speak tonight at New Haven, tomorrow in Elizabeth, and Saturday in Providence make it impossible for me to speak at your league. The strain is too great on me. I must ask you to excuse me.” In fine condition, with two vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, a uniform shade of mild toning, and a few stray ink spots.
