Description

Nixon’s 1978 personal financial statement for Watergate figure Bebe Robozo’s Key Biscayne Bank

DS, signed “R. M. Nixon,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, May 31, 1978. Personal Financial Statement submitted to the Key Biscayne Bank and Trust Company, Key Biscayne, Florida. In part, “I make the following statement of all my assets and liabilities as of the 31st day of May, 1978, and give other material information for the purpose of obtaining credit with you on notes and bills bearing my signature, endorsement, or guarantee, and agree to notify you promptly of any change affecting my ability to pay…” Financial information includes “Stock and Securities Other Than Guaranteed U.S. Gov’t and Gov’t Agencies $1,045,000”–“Real Estate Registered in own name $400,000” –“Other income…Writing, est. $247,500…Pension and Retirement $85,500”–“Net Worth $1,325,400.” In fine condition, with a few creases and wrinkles, as well as expected folds.

The Key Biscayne Bank was operated by Nixon’s longtime friend and Florida neighbor, Charles ‘Bebe’ Robozo. Rebozo became a target of Watergate investigators on charges that he had converted Nixon campaign contributions to personal use, first by the Senate and later by Federal prosecutors. In 1975, the Justice Department concluded that there was ‘no basis for indictment.’ A unique admission of ‘liability’ from the former president! Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
