Charles Dickens

English novelist and the author of such classics as Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, and David Copperfield. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, London, June 2, 1843. In part: “My dear Jordan…Many thanks for your kind remembrance of me. I tried hard, but I couldn’t come…being engaged that day four times.” Neatly signed at the conclusion, with Dickens adding his characteristic paraph. In fine condition with mounting residue on the reverse, uniform overall toning from previous display, and a vertical fold through the “r” in “Charles.” Accompanied by a small rendering of the author in profile. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
