Autograph legal document, not signed but penned entirely in Adams’ hand, one page, 6 x 7.5, 1767. An itemized bill for work done by Benjamin Tirrillo on a boat belonging to William Price. Adams writes out 16 lines of expenses incurred by Tirrillo, including “To a strap for the Stern and two long spikes,” “To Spikes & Deck Nails and a strap for mast,” “To working on your boat 10 days,” “To a journey to Boston,” and “To sixty feet Boards.” Adams adds up the figures for a total owed of £4.4.9. In very good to fine condition, with two vertical folds, a horizontal fold to lower blank section, scattered light toning and foxing, and two small areas of paper loss to right edge.
Adams was a very accomplished attorney in 1767 when he prepared this statement on behalf of Tirrillo. In his distinctive handwriting, Adams has carefully detailed dates, actions, and costs incurred. A scarce document, and, interestingly, when this page is held up to the light, one can make out a portion of the British Crown watermark. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
