General in the Union Army during the Civil War. He received a Medal of Honor for gallantry in action at the September 1862 Battle of South Mountain during the Maryland Campaign. Partly-printed DS, signed “Jno. P. Hatch,” one page, 8.5 x 11, June 22, 1864. Discharge issued to Henry J. Reedfield of the New York State Infantry by reason of “physical disability.” Signed at the conclusion by Hatch. In very good condition, with endorsement over portion of document, uniform even toning, a couple partial separations to folds, and some scattered light foxing. RRAuction COA.
