TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Dallas Cowboys Football Club letterhead, December 15, 1972. Coach Landry writes Nat Loubet, editor of The Ring magazine. In full: “You requested my opinion on the outcome of the return match between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. These two athletes may be as good as any heavyweight champions that we have ever had. Both are deserving of wearing the world heavyweight title crown.
I believe that the return match will be a tossup between these two great fighters. I would really hate to have to pick a winner. If I am pressed to make a selection I would have to go with Joe Frazier, I guess only because he is a little younger and he won the first fight.
I wish I could be more positive for the benefit of your poll, but I’m afraid I am a great admirer of both of their abilities.”
In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, one touching the end of his name, a small pen mark along the left side, and an area of thin paper on the reverse. Great content from the coach of ‘America’s team’ incorrectly predicting the fight’s outcome. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
