Description

On a brief break from the political scene in 1925, Truman pays the bills

City Bank of Kansas City business check, 6.25 x 2.5, filled out and signed by Truman, payable to Motorist Supply Co. for $66.35, August 15, 1925. Archivally double cloth matted with a stern likeness and framed to an overall size of 12.5 x 17. In fine condition, with expected cancellation holes (not affecting his name), show-through from bank stamp on reverse, and signature a bit light toward the end of his name. Truman had lost re-election a year earlier to a Missouri judgeship, but his absence from politics would be short-lived; in 1926 he was elected presiding judge of the court and continued down a path that would lead to the White House. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
