Influential black writer and educator who helped transform the prevailing view of his people’s role in America. Exceedingly rare vintage matte-finish 5 x 7 photo of DuBois in his study, signed in fountain pen “W. E. B. DuBois, Sept 10, 1959” near the lower edge. Accompanied by a brief TLS from the same date, signed “W. E. B. DuBois,” transmitting “the photo for which you asked.” Both items are in fine condition, with a light paperclip impression to the upper left corner of the photo.
