Ike sends well wishes to the recovering White House Communications director

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, June 13, 1955. A letter to William Simmons, scheduled for surgery at Walter Reed Hospital. In part: “I had every intention of finding time at least to shake your hand this morning…I now understand that you have already left for the hospital. While I know the operation will produce some uncomfortable days for you, it is going to be worth while. We will be thinking of you here…” President Eisenhower adds the handwritten postscript “I hope these flowers will brighten your room. D.E.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. A bright, clean example with an exceptionally bold signature. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
