Wallace Reid

Handsome silent screen actor/director who died in 1923 at the age of 31 as a result of alcohol addiction and a morphine habit instigated by the studio Famous Players. He appeared in over one hundred films, most notably Birth of a Nation. Splendid vintage 5 x 8 Witzel portrait, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To my ‘Best Man,’ Wally.” In fine condition, with a tack hole at the lower right corner, and a small stain to left edge Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
