Description

‘The Beast’s restaurant card

A fearsome power hitter whose strength earned him the moniker ‘The Beast,’ Foxx was the anchor of an intimidating Philadelphia Athletics lineup that produced pennant winners from 1929 to 1931. Jimmie Foxx Restaurant business card, 3.5 x 2, for his restaurant in Galesburg, Illinois, signed on the front in blue ballpoint, “Jimmie Foxx.” In fine condition, with some scattered light soiling. Foxx made his home in Galesburg for a time in the 1960s and owned a restaurant there that bore his name, reportedly spending most of his time in the bar. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
