TLS signed “Orson,” one page, 6.5 x 9, May 6, 1964. Welles writes to his friend, columnist Leonard Lyons of the New York Post. In part: “It was a joy seeing you both, but I know your Madrid trip was a disappointment, and I must apologise for that. You found me at low ebb, and I failed rather dismally to provide entertainment or even news. It was a very touching proof of a loyal friendship to read your gallant efforts in subsequent columns to make me look vaguely newsworthy anyway.” In fine condition, with a strip of toning along the bottom of the page and a paperclip impression at the top. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
