African-American poet (1872–1906), known for his colorful use of language and dialect, who died of tuberculosis at the age of 33. Scarce and desirable AQS, signed “Paul Laurence Dunbar,” on a 3.5 x 2 slip affixed to a larger collector’s card, dated in pencil in another hand 1900. From his beautiful poem titled “Accountability,” Dunbar pens the line, “Folks ain’t got no right to censuah othah folks about dey habits. Sincerely yours, Paul Laurence Dunbar.” In fine condition, with a bit of trivial soiling. RRAuction COA.
