Builder of St. Peter’s

Born Camillo Borghese in Rome in 1550, Paul V reigned as pope from 1605 until his death in 1621. He also financed the completion of St. Peter's Basilica. LS in Italian, signed “Paulus pp V.,” one page, 8 x 11, March 25, 1609. Letter authorizing the municipality of San Severino to grant an extension of power to a tax of an additional 2 Baiocchi per 100 pounds of ground. This decision is consistent with the provision made in the past, extension and approval. Letter has been professionally inlaid to a slightly larger sheet. In fine condition, with scattered light toning and soiling, and a few stray ink marks. RRAuction COA.
