Original working manuscript of God’s Little Acre from the South’s literary bad boy

Original typewritten manuscript, seven pages, the working draft of lyrics used in the motion picture, God’s Little Acre. Signed in black ink twice by Caldwell, once on the first page and once on the last page. Accompanied by a one-page TLS, signed by Caldwell, dated March 10, 1967, explaining the manuscript. Caldwell writes, in part, “The following seven pages contain my own working material (and final as revised) of lyrics used in the motion picture God’s Little Acre. The lyrics were used for the music for the film as composed by Elmer Bernstein…Among the players were: Tina Louise, Robert Ryan and Buddy Hackett.” Caldwell also signs and inscribes at the top of the letter as well. There are numerous penciled revisions and corrections. In very good condition, with light overall toning to first page, scattered toning and soiling to letter and folds to manuscript pages.
