Italian pope (1792–1878), born Giovanni Maria Mastai-Ferretti, who ascended the papal throne in 1846 and served until his death. Manuscript DS, in Italian, signed “P. pp IX,” one page, 8.75 x 12.75, 1874. Untranslated blessing signed at the conclusion by Pius, who adds the date and a brief sentiment above his signature. Intersecting folds, some scattered light toning, and some scattered light spreading to ink in text, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
