In full: “My son, as commandant of my army in Italy, independently from the account that you are giving me, it is necessary that you correspond directly with the Minister of war, and that you give him a report of all the affairs, not by the channel of your Chief officer, but directly. In this measure are included the kings of Spain and of Naples, as commandant of an army.” In fine condition, with minor toning, scattered soiling, and show-through from a spot of paper loss on the reverse.
