Description

The longest tenured Justice writes of the Constitution, the separation of powers and the future of America

AQS, signed “W. O. Douglas,” on an off-white 5.5 x 8 sheet of Supreme Court letterhead, dated April 2, 1974. A quote from Douglas’s statement on the occasion of becoming the longest serving Supreme Court Justice. In full: “I think the heart of America is sound; the conscience of America is bright, and the future of America is great. The thing that holds us all together is not the wording of the Constitution; not the separation of powers; it’s the mucilage of goodwill.” In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
