Description

Rare 1953 glamour photo of the soon-to-be superstar

Vintage glossy 8 x 10 portrait of Monroe in a typically sultry pose and wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, signed and inscribed in green ink, “To Gil, Love and Kisses, Marilyn Monroe.” In fine condition, with scattered marks and creases, trimmed edges, and deep impressions over her name. A truly stunning pose!

This stunning pose was taken by Frank Powolny as head portrait and still photographer at 20th Century-Fox, where he worked for more than 40 years. Dating to the early 1950s, this pose was taken at a time when Powolny was capturing Monroe as part of a publicity campaign for Gentleman Prefer Blondes—a campaign designed to groom the starlet as Betty Grable’s replacement as the studio’s resident sex symbol. A sultry image, enhanced only by the rarity of Marilyn’s signature! Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
