Description

Deflecting the spotlight to show “there are as good fish in the sea as G. B. Salmon”

ALS signed “G.B.S.,” on a 5.5 x 3.5 correspondence card, The Old House letterhead, December 4, 1904. Letter to dramatist St. John Hankin. In part: “Yes: I think Les Aveugles rather a good idea for the triple bill, and just the thing to give relief to my more festive style. But a still better finish would be a topical piece or revue by you, in verse. We could then not only get through a whole season without the eternal Shaw, but get a witty piece as well to shew there are as good fish in the sea as G. B. Salmon.” In fine condition. Reverse of the card is addressed to Hamlin in Shaw’s hand. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
