Two ANS signed as president, “W. McK,” on both sides of a 4.5 x 2.75 Executive Mansion card, July 10, 1898. Brief note to Secretary of War Russell Alger. McKinley writes: “Genl Alger I think if you can supply them place the First Corps should be ordered here or to K(urfus B(ronan)? This is what Genl Haley wants and I want it.” On the reverse, in pencil, McKinley writes: “Appoint W. P. Williams…with rank of Captain July 10/98,” and signed “W. McK.” Card is archivally sleeved in acid-free Mylar. In very good condition, with scattered light creases, mild toning to both sides, and scattered soiling to pencil side.
