Description

Gracie Allen

Humorous TLS signed “Gracie,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, September 9, 1941. To screenwriter and columnist Jimmy Starr. In full: “I am entered in an exhibit of my own at the Inventors’ Convention which opens at the Biltmore Hotel on September 12. The items include:

1. A transparent newspaper so the wife can see her husband at breakfast in the morning.

2. A shaving mirror with the upper half of Clark Gable’s face on, so it looks as though you are shaving Clark in the morning instead of your same old face.

3. Double Duty Dental Plates. They can be taken out at night and baited to use as a mousetrap.

4. Scalloped telephone mouthpiece. Can also be used as a cookie cutter.

5. Building-That-Goes-Up-and-Down. So you don’t need elevators.

6. Sweater Knitted Out of Macaroni. Not only warm but nourishing.

I hope you will have a chance to drop in and see these. There will be a lot of others too.”

In fine condition, with small pencil check marks near four of the listed items. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
