Description

A future First Lady clarifies a request from an encyclopedia editor

TLS, one page, 5.75 x 7.5, Executive Mansion letterhead, May 12, 1931. The future First Lady replies to the editor of the National Cyclopedia of American Biography. In full: “Both my husband and his Mother are away and will not return until the end of the month. I shall be very glad to give them the questionnaire to fill out at that time. I presume it is my husband’s father’s biography you are preparing and not that of his half-brother, James R. Roosevelt?” A few light creases, soiling, and toning, a stamping at the top right corner, and a notation in pencil at the top left corner, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
