President Madison cuts a hefty check, most likely to Aaron Burr

Bank check, 7.75 x 2.5, filled out and signed by Madison, as president, payable to A. B. (most likely Aaron Burr) for $2000.00, August 7, 1813, with check marked at the bottom “Private account.” Matted and framed with an engraved portrait of Madison, and a small caption, to an overall size of 16 x 18. In very good condition, with two cancellation cuts to body, one lightly affecting signature, uniform light toning, spot to top right, Madison’s signature and writing a few shades light, but legible, small tear to top edge, and missing top left corner. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
