Michel Ney

Second Duc d’Elchingen (1804–1854), son of the First Duc d’Elchingen, one of the original 18 Marshals of France created by Napoleon and the only marshal executed for treason, as an “example,” following the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in 1815. The Second Duc was killed at Gallipoli during the Crimean War. ALS in French, signed “Elchingen,” one page, 8 x 10, Colonel du Régiment de Dragons letterhead, December 8, 1851. An untranslated message on a military matter. In very good condition, with later pencil notations, light intersecting folds (lightly touching signature), a touch of mild toning and soiling, and mild handling wear. RRAuction COA.
