TLS, one page, 7 x 10.5, personal letterhead, January 27, 1959. Truman writes television pioneer Paul Henning, creator of The Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction. In part, “I will never forget the Henning family. I meet one of them every once in a while on Van Horn Road just west of my house, and we always have pleasant conversations. Cotton Henning used to work on my Stafford car. I never owned a Cadillac. I never had the money to own one, but I now have a Dodge and Chrysler, both of which I enjoy very much.” A few trivial stains, a fold passing through the “y” in “Harry,” staple hole at upper left corner, and two file holes at the top border, otherwise fine condition.
