Souvenir typescript, signed, "Edward Duke of Windsor,” Instrument of Abdication, one page, 7.25 x 10.25 no date. Typescript of the document by which King Edward VIII abdicated. In full, “I, Edward the Eighth, of Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Dominions beyond the Seas, King, Emperor of India, do hereby declare My irrevocable determination to renounce the Throne for Myself and for My descendants, and My desire that effect should be given to this Instrument of Abdication immediately. In token whereof I have hereunto set My hand this tenth day of December, nineteen hundred and thirty-six, in the presence of the witnesses whose signatures are subscribed.” It is noted in type that the actual Instrument of Abdication was “signed at Fort Belvedere in the presence of Albert. Henry. George.,” his three brothers; a mailing envelope signed "Wallace Windsor,” and Edward Duke of Windsor.”; a cotton checkered handkerchief belonging to Edward, Duke of Windsor; and a white leather evening glove belonging to Wallis, accompanied by two photo reproductions, one of Edward, Duke of Windsor and Wallis on deck aboard a ship, the other of Edward alone, seated, reading a book. Professionally laid-out and exquisitely double matted and framed with two photos, to an overall size of 34 x 30. Envelope is lightly soiled and some light toning to typescript, all other items in visibly fine condition. Oversized. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
