TLS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, March 15, 1943. Writing from the East Coast, a tired and homesick Waters discusses plans for a four-week appearance in New York City, as well as the release of the film Cabin in the Sky, which featured an all African American cast, in a Southern environment. In part, “I forgot to tell you that ‘Cabin’ opened in Texas somewhere and as yet I haven’t received any report asto [sic] how it was received. And as yet there are no newspaper accounts.” In very good condition, with light creasing, scattered toning and soiling, splitting along folds, partially repaired with tape on the back of both sheets. A wonderful, spiritually toned letter from the blues and jazz singer and actress. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
