Description

“It pays to keep ME in remembrance at ALL times, and to trust in MY Everlasting Name”

Black religious leader whose Peace Mission sect demanded worship of him as God incarnate and communal celibate living. TLS signed “Rev. M.J. Divine,” two pages, 8.5 x 11, elaborate letterhead of The U.S.A. Northeastern Churches and Connections Under The Peace Mission Movement, December 3, 1954. Inspirational letter to Miss Gentle Dove of Los Angeles. In part, “It is an attested fact that when you are conscious of MY Presence, MY Spirit adjusts every condition desirably. By trusting in MY Name, when one door closed, as in the case of the store where you traded, that carried the cursed book, another was opened. MY Spirit made the way for you to get whatsoever you desired readily elsewhere. Also in the loss of the stone from your ring, when you relaxed in FAITH, MY Spirit even caused you to serve yourself, taking the stone you lost with the spoonful of salad you took on your plate. That was wonderful, and not a coincidence as some may desire to call it. It did not just happen, but it happened just…Thus it pays to keep ME in remembrance at ALL times, and to trust in MY Everlasting Name, for in this recognition I can keep you from the evil and deliver you from all hurt, harm and danger.” Light toning, three small punch holes to each margin, and intersecting folds (a horizontal fold passing through his signature), otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
