Prolific American character actor (1892–1962) who was the first performer to win an Oscar (for his supporting role in Stagecoach), an Emmy, and a Tony. His most familiar roles are probably those of Scarlett O’Hara’s father in Gone with the Wind and Uncle Billy in the classic It’s a Wonderful Life. Partly-printed DS, signed “Thomas Mitchell,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, June 1, 1956. Mitchell signs a three-year contract with the William Morris Agency.
