Begin writes from his post-political seclusion: “All free nations should unite and make a common effort in order to put an end to this scourge”

Two items: TLS, signed “M. Begin,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, dated April 3, 1986. Begin writes to the friend of a victim of an unknown tragedy. In part: “I can fully understand and feel your sorrow and moral outrage at the tragedy which befell your friend. All free nations should unite and make a common effort in order to put an end to this scourge. Let us hope that this aim will one day be achieved, but none of us can overlook the difficulties involved.”; and a glossy 3.5 x 5 photo of Begin, signed in the lower border in blue felt tip, “M. Begin.” In fine condition, with bisecting folds to letter, with vertical fold through first initial of signature, as well as some scattered light creases. RRAuction COA.
